Ending Scenes
Hamlet and The Lion King have very interesting ending scenes to compare. The similarities are fairly obvious - they both involve a battle, a duel for honor, and revenge (well, sort of in Simba's case), and the entire (surviving) cast plays a part in it.
The biggest difference is that in The Lion King the ending goes from a state of chaos, to a state of order. Scar has ravaged the lands, and as the battle between Simba and Scar rages on everthing burns, but after Scar is dead everything comes back to life. Simba restores order and prosperity to Pride Rock.
When Hamlet arrives back at the castle, things are going as well as they could be under the circumstances. Things are functioning. But as things move forward, and Hamlet finally exacts his revenge everyone dies. Hamlet may have gotten his revenge, but at the cost of everyone's lives. Given, Fortinbras would have probably killed everyone anyways, but Hamlet is very much responsible for the chaos that comes out of his revenge plot.
